DAMES Node resources and services

This page will contain links to materials produced by the Node. Updates to follow.

GEMDE (info and portal): This page describes the GEMDE service (Grid Enabled ethnic Minority Data Environment), and links to the 'portal' environment through which its resources are provided (the portal was first launched in Jan. 2010).

GEODE (v2): Further info. / portal prototype. These link to GEODE, our service for data on occupations. The portal link is to our revised GEODE service (v2). New features compared to the v1 portal include the ability to add user ratings to items, an improved tool for 'curating' data, and for searching, reviewing and exploiting data. (The portal is still in development - August 2010).

GEEDE: Further info. / portal prototype. These links go to GEEDE (Grid Enabled Educational Data Environment), a service supporting access to specialist data about educational qualifications that is relevant to social science research. (The portal is still in development - August 2010).

GEODE (v1) portal Version 1 of the GEODE portal (for data on occupations) was originally developed in a project which ran 2005-7, using 'Gridsphere' middleware. We are no longer still developing this version, instead we are working on an new version with a different look and feel (v2).

Prototype DAMES portal: This links to a portal, hosted at NeSC in Glasgow, which acts as a linking directory across all of the different DAMES services. At time of writing (June 2010) it hosts content on the e-Health and GEMDE services, and external links, or holding pages, describing other resources from the DAMES Node.

WORKSHOP MATERIALS: Our 'workshops' page links to various downloadable materials. Many are presentation slides and documents, but of practical value to many potential readers are a suite of detailed Stata format example command files, with links to required data file, which were published for the workshop on 'Data management for social survey research' (August 2009).
